Who's My Advocate?
Who鈥檚 my advocate and what do they do?
Every concurrent enrollment student is assigned a student success advocate (SSA-CE) to help them with their concurrent enrollment pathway. SCC has assigned an SSA-CE to each participating high school.
SSA-CEs typically have several key responsibilities aimed at ensuring that high school students are participating in college courses.
These responsibilities include:
Academic Advising: SSA-CE are here to help you choose college courses that align with academic and career goals while meeting high school graduation requirements. We encourage you to meet with your advocate to discuss your academic plan.
Support Services: SSA-CE can show you resources on how to access tutoring, mentoring, and other support services to help you succeed in college courses.
Communication and Coordination: SSA-CE serve as a liaison between your high school and SCC. This helps to ensure smooth communication and coordination regarding schedules, policies, and your progress.
Monitoring and Follow-Up: SSA-CE will monitor your performance in your SCC courses if you're taking a course supported by your high school. If you encounter difficulties, we are here to provide interventions to help you stay on track. Your high school counselor will receive a weekly progress report.
Parental Involvement: SSA-CE can only talk to your parents about the concurrent enrollment process, expectations, and ways they can support your academic journey.
Advocacy: SSA-CE support the success of concurrent enrollment at both high school and SCC.
